Portraits

What is portrait photography and what is a great portrait?

Portrait photography or portraiture has been defined as the capture by means of photography of the likeness of a person or a small group of people (a group portrait), in which the face and expression is predominant.  Following that definition every picture you have taken could be regarded as a portrait but there has to be something more, some more personal element of vitality in order to transform a likeness into a lasting portait.

I believe that a good portrait photograph is best captured in a relaxed, informal setting that allows the subject to be comfortable in front on the camera.  Often  shooting on location is preferable to get the right results from your portrait session rather than being confined by the four walls of a studio.  Whatever the occasion I can arrange a session designed to result in a set of images that are special and memorable for you.

Once we have created your portait photographs they need to be finished and presented in a way that shows them off to their best.  I offer a range of finished products sourced only from high quality suppliers including prints, books or albums, acrylics or canvas and more so that you can be confident of finding the finished presentation products that are right for you.
